What happens if I’m injured in a store?

On Behalf of | Mar 29, 2017 | Blog, Personal Injury |

When a potential client comes into my office and says that they were injured in a store, there are a lot different factors that we need to establish in order to put together a case. We need to determine what caused the person to be injured. If it was a slip and fall situation, we need to establish what caused them to slip. If the person had a store display fall on them, we need to gather information about what the unsafe condition was. There are a number of different hazards that may exist whenever you enter a store that may cause you to sustain lifelong injuries.

The reason why I ask that is because there is a duty for the store owner to maintain a safe premises, which means safe from liquids or any other things on the floor that could cause a person to be injured. Now, there are other elements that have to be met, such as, did they have notice of the dangerous situation? Did they have constructive notice, meaning should they have known? However, once those elements are met, and once the injuries are shown to have been caused by the fall, at that point, you will have a valid claim for a personal injury action.

It is important that when you become injured in a store, you take pictures of the dangerous conditions that existed before leaving the premises if possible. This can help you provide evidence when it comes time to pursue a case that there were negligent conditions in the store.

If you find yourself in that situation, please call my office today. Come on in for a free consultation and let me see how I can help.
